David W. Otto David W. Otto

David W. Otto founded Otto & Associates in 1991. Mr. Otto is a Certified Financial Planner™. He has served on a number of committees of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA), a national professional association of Fee-Only financial planners. He has also served on the Regional Board of the Financial Planning Association, the Board of the Katonah Village Library (where he was Chairman for two years), and the Zoning Board of Appeals for the Town of Bedford. In the 1980's he worked part time with investment real estate and founded a corporation dedicated to real estate financing.

A graduate of Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, Mr. Otto holds a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from Andover Newton Theological School. Prior to becoming a Fee-Only planner, he served as a pastor for nine years and worked for seventeen years as a pastoral counselor, including supervising psychotherapists and managing a counseling center. He has lived and worked in northern Westchester for his entire professional life, but now splits his time between Katonah and Norwich, VT. He and his wife are the parents of two grown daughters and have three grandchildren.



Deborah Levy MaherDeborah Levy Maher


Deborah Levy Maher joined Otto & Associates in 1997. She is a Certified Financial Planner™ and holds a BA with honors from Vassar College. She is a member of the Financial Planning Association and has served on the Regional Board. She was formerly a Vice President of Chase Bank and its predecessors Chemical and Manufacturers Hanover Trust, where she worked in a variety of lending and relationship management positions, including private banking and industry analysis. She was the Treasurer of the Barnard Elementary School PTA in New Rochelle and currently volunteers for several organizations, including Temple Israel of New Rochelle, and the Adoptive Parents' Committee. She is married, and she and her husband have three children.



Judy LaPortaJudy LaPorta

Judy LaPorta came to Otto & Associates as office manager in November 2000. She attended Queens College majoring in mathematics. Her diverse business experience includes working with human resources and educational services in the computer software industry. She and her husband reside in North Salem and have three grown children.



Kathy PattonKathy Patton

Kathy Patton joined Otto & Associates in an administrative capacity in late 2007. She received a BS from Georgetown University, after which she worked at Goldman, Sachs & Co. for 14 years. When Kathy is not at O&A she is often volunteering as a Friend of the Bedford Free Library. She and her husband live in Bedford and have three children.



Susan Otto Goodell Susan Otto Goodell

Susan Otto Goodell has been working in the Norwich office of Otto & Associates since 2007. She passed the CFP® exam in 2011 and now works as a Certified Financial Planner™ in the Vermont office. She also devotes one day a week to teaching adults and children with disabilities at High Horses Therapeutic Riding program, where she serves as Lead Instructor. Prior to becoming a CFP®, she was a third grade teacher in the public school system for 15 years. Susan has a Bachelor's Degree from Bates College and a Master's in Education from Antioch New England. She and her husband Jeff Goodell live in Newbury, VT, and have two children.
